2-Year Wellness Check

On June 24, Lee and I took Sofia to Fargo for her 2-year checkup. I wasn't looking forward to this one because: 1. Sofia hates being contained, so the tiny exam room wasn't going to be ideal conditions for entertaining her. 2. This checkup involved shots. There was a new surprise for this visit too; Sofia got to use the big-girl scale. No more baby scale for her. I guess this means she's actually growing up. :( The nurse did ask me how I wanted her measured, and I chose to have Sofia lying down for that one. She won't stand still long enough for somebody to measure her standing up. Actually I'm glad the adult scale is quick with an answer, because she only tolerated that for a couple of seconds. Anyhow, the results on Sofia were: Weight, 28 lbs 7.8 oz (72nd percentile); Height, 35.25 inches (84th percentile). She's taller for her age. According to the doctor, she figures that Sofia will be around 5'10" when she's an adult. We'll see, I don't really want to think that far ahead. What's kind of odd is that when Sofia was 6 months (I think), she was in the 85th percentile for weight and the 25th percentile for height. So, she's really stretched out! The doctor looked her over, and everything is as it should be. Still missing some teeth, but her gums look healthy, and the teeth will get here when they get here. We haven't started potty-training yet (I confess, this terrifies me), but the doctor said that we shouldn't rush it, Sofia would let us know when she was ready. Then it was time for the dreaded shot. I was all panicked about how Sofia would take it. I got out blankie to be prepared, but Sofia refused it. So, I just closed my eyes and let the nurse to what she had to do. After the poke, all Sofia had to say was, "All done?". No tears, nothing. Amazing! She is one tough cookie. All in all, a good checkup, and now we're done with scheduled checkups for a year. Hopefully it doesn't go by too fast.

Here are some pics from 4th of July. There was a hayride from Gainor's to McLeod for the parade, then back again for a party. You couldn't have asked for a better day, it was beatiful!
