Sofia turned 8 months old on Sunday. She now weighs 20.5 pounds and is 27 inches long. So it seems that her putting on weight has kind of tapered off, and she's beginning to grow length-wise. I'm going to keep this short, because she's sitting on my lap right now and doesn't have the patience to let me write more about her. :) So, I'll just post some pics, and we'll go play some more.
I think I can get it.
Hey there Mom!
Yes, I pushed myself back this far.
I like sitting up much better.
That's so funny!

Covergirl!
Something neat happened for Sofia this past Sunday. She made the cover of the Fargo Forum's special baby issue. We were so excited! The baby issue was done to commemorate the babies born in 2007. Anyone who has a baby that was born in 2007 was invited to send in a picture of their baby (with a nominal fee, of course), then they put it all together and send out the issue in a designated Sunday Forum. They called me a couple of weeks ago and asked if it would be okay if Sofia's picture was on the cover. I agreed, so now she's our own little cover girl. Pretty cool!
On a side note, just today I noticed that she's starting to push up to a bit of a crawling position when she's on her tummy. Maybe she will crawl after all. And, she's learned to spit or "blow raspberries". She loves doing it, so the spit's been flying lately. :) I guess that although it's messy, it's learning none-the-less. So, as far as I'm concerned, let 'er fly.
Here she is, our little "Covergirl"

All right, no more pictures Mom

2nd Flu Shot
The next day, I took Sofia to Fargo to receive her second flu shot. All in all, the appointment took about 2 minutes. Sofia did wonderfully (as usual). She cried for about 5 seconds, then was done. For such a short appointment, I can't believe what a hassle it was just to get in and out. It was freezing that day, which always makes things more difficult. Traffic wasn't fun, had to wait for a train, then I left one of Sofia's bottles in the waiting room. Ugh! I was exhausted when we finally got home. Our next well-baby check should go much smoother. It will be at the end of March, so weather should be nicer and NO shots next time. YEAH! Sofia and I will both like that. As for my little girl, she isn't crawling yet. I've said before how she hates to be on her belly. That hasn't changed. She's rolling over more now. And, somehow this morning she had turned herself in a complete 180 in her bed. I wish I'd taken a picture. So, she is moving on her own. She can maneuver herself in different ways, so whatever her preference is fine by me. We have hardwood floors in our house, and it's cold down there. So, when I read about how you help your child by placing them on the floor, then letting them work it out, it really isn't an option out here. It's cold down there, and blankets only go so far. So, any advice, I'll take it. Anyhow, she can do "So Big", is learning to wave bye-bye, is babbling away, and loves to bang her blocks together. Something new every day, which is wonderful. It's so cool to see things through her eyes. It's a whole new perspective. Well, I think I'll just post my pictures now and head off to bed. Good-night.
Hey Mom, watch this.
Sooo Big!
Well, did you get it?
Here, you need a hug.
Uff-da.

Out Visiting
Whoa, I just looked to see when I last posted. It was quite a while ago. I need to keep more up to speed with this. It just seems that when I have a free day or whatever, something else is comes up. All right, enough with my whining and on to something much better. Last Tuesday night, my friend Jolene invited Sofia and I out to her parents' house for supper. She had her two daughters, Lydia and Sadie, along. Her mom, Melinda, was home also, and Kate and Bobby joined us too. It was a fun evening. Not only did she make a fantastic meal, but we got to catch up a little bit, play with the kiddos, and just relax. We hadn't seen them since October, I think, so it was great to get together. Here are some pictures from that evening.

Don't worry Bobby, it's okay.
I'm here for my close-up.

7 Months Old
On the 17th, Sofia turned 7 months old. Wasn't it just yesterday that she turned 6 months? Wow! Anyhow, I weighed and measured her. She now weighs 20 pounds and is 25 1/2 inches long. We're now having to look for a different car seat, as the one she has is going (and already kind of is) to be too small shortly. That will make her happy. She doesn't like being placed in the one she has now. If there is one thing that makes her crabby, it's getting dressed for the cold and being placed in that seat. She's eating a lot more "solid" food now. She really enjoys the new tastes of fruits and vegetables. She sits up on her own and can stay balanced for long periods of time. She will roll over, but she still dislikes being on her belly. And, boy does she talk! Lots of babbling and squealing. She's making all different kinds of sounds like ma-ma and da-da. And, she knows how to communicate with them too. I caught heck the other night when I wasn't moving fast enough. She started out just quietly babbling to herself, but when she realized I wasn't paying attention to her, she let out a loud stream of "ma-ma-ma, na-na-na, ma-ma-ma." I laughed, but she didn't think it was so funny. And, she's started playing So Big and is so proud of herself when she does it. She's pretty amazing, if I do say so myself. What will she do next?
Are you taking my picture again?
Okay, go ahead.
Hey Mom, look at this!
Again with the camera?
Okay, fine, but this is the last one.

Cheerios!
I don't have any pictures to post of this, but Sofia tried Cheerios yesterday for the first time. We broke them up in tiny pieces and let her eat them. First, she made a face, then kinda sucked on them for awhile, then swallowed them. At first I thought she was choking because she kind of coughed and hacked (which about gave me a heart attack and a giant guilt trip), but then I figured out that she'd never swallowed anything like that before and didn't know how it was supposed to feel. Still, we quit soon after. But, she has been trying different foods and seems to do all right with them. She still doesn't care to roll over, but she sits up for several minutes without support and can reach for toys near her without toppling over. Pretty cool!
I should mention that I turned 31 on the 4th. Not that I was too excited about it. Birthdays just don't seem to hold the same meaning they did before. Except that I'm older. We went out to supper with my family on Friday, then Lee and I went to Fargo for dinner and a movie on Saturday. So, I guess I'll start my new trip around the sun (to quote Jimmy Buffett) as a 31-year-old and see what the ride brings. I'm looking forward to it.

6 Month Checkup
On Wednesday, we headed back up to Fargo to have Sofia's 6-month checkup. She now weighs 19 pounds and is 25 inches long. The doctor said she's doing great and is acting exactly how a 6-month old should act. Sofia even rolled over for the first time during her checkup! I haven't been able to get her to do it again, but all in due time I suppose. Then it was time for the shots. :( Neither Sofia, nor I enjoyed that part. She recovered quickly, and we were on our way. It was also my mom's 60th birthday on Wednesday. Happy Birthday Mom/Grandma! We went out for supper with my family that night, so that was really nice. Also, that morning, I had Sofia's 6-month pictures taken. She did wonderfully! Click here to view them. Here are some new photos too.
Enjoying a good read
Having a sip of water (or licking ice cubes)
Mmm, that's good
