Hanging Out with Sofia

Just a few pictures of Sofia I took this afternoon. She was playing around under the chairs and was having a little trouble finding her way out. It didn't take her long to figure it out.

Happy Halloween 2008!

Happy Halloween a day late! Hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. I know we did. After I picked up Sofia, we came home so I could change her into her costume. She was a witch this year. After taking a bit of video and a few photos, it was off for trick-or-treating. We made a few stops in town, got more candy than she can eat (Mommy may help her out with that), and finished up the night at Grandma and Grandpa's. Since we only made a few stops, we got to visit with everyone for more than a couple of seconds, which was nice. Sofia enjoyed her costume, and I think she had fun. She was pretty pooped by the time we got home. Here are some pictures from Halloween night:

She really wanted to get off the steps and run around.

I did get her to pause and look for a picture.

Now for some with Mommy

She decided that she wanted to run again.

As you can see, she wasn't too happy about more pictures.

C'mon Mommy, let's go trick-or-treating.

15-Month Checkup

Last Friday, Lee, Sofia, and I went to Fargo for her 15-month checkup. Actually she turned 16 months old that day, so we were a month late. Oh well. The nurse who did her measurements measured her at 25 lbs. 6 oz., 29 1/2 inches long. Now, if you read my post from Sofia's 12-month checkup, she was 29 3/4 inches long. So, unless she's shrinking, somebody measured her wrong. Of course, this nurse blamed the nurse from her 12-month appointment. I, on the other hand, think this nurse made the mistake. Lee and I measured her last night, and we got her at 31 1/2 inches. Anyhow, the rest of the checkup went just fine. The doctor looked at her and said she's doing wonderfully. I also had her take a look at her teeth, and she said that although she's a late teether, she can see that a few more are ready to pop out soon. At the checkup Sofia had 3 teeth, and I noticed today that another has popped out, so we're finally getting some progress there. Sofia also received some shots this appointment and won't have any more until her 2-year appointment. Thank goodness! Anyhow, I'm going to wrap this up because Sofia is not letting me type anymore. Thanks for stopping by!

Jessie and Chris

Okay, this is just proof of how removed I totally am from this blog sometimes. My sister, Jessie, and her boyfriend, Chris, took a trip to Mexico this past May. During their trip, Chris asked her to marry him. You probably know she said yes, because in one of my previous posts I talked about shopping for a wedding dress with her. Anyhow, I want to offer a loooooong overdue congratulations to them. (I have told them in person, in case you were wondering how totally crass I am - the answer, not totally :p) They've set a date for next May, which should turn out to be a beautiful spring wedding. I am very excited for them and, again, want to offer my heartfelt congratulations!

Note to self: From now on, report important things as they happen.

New Pics

Just a few new pics that I took on Sunday while over at my parents' house.

We're Still Here

I'm not going to even try to explain why I haven't posted in over a month. I'll just say that since Sofia started walking, other tasks get pushed to the side. It's a job in itself just to keep up with her. She's really confident in her walking and isn't afraid of anything. Which is both good and bad. But, Lee and I keep a pretty watchful eye on her. Another reason I haven't posted in a while...not too much going on. I know we're pretty busy every weekend, this one excluded, but nothing monumental has really taken place. We've been to family parties, bridal gown shopping with Jessie, and other fun activities, but I'm not great about taking my camera out and using it (need to work on that). Anyhow, Sofia is doing great, getting bigger, walking everywhere, and is talking all the time. Although a lot of what she says aren't really words, she does say, "Hi", "What's that?", "Oh, yeah?", "Oh, wow!", "Uh-oh", "One, two, three" (three doesn't actually sound like three, but I know what she means), and other little phrases. I love to hear her talk in her little voice. She still doesn't have any teeth, but I can see her bottom and top ones are pretty close to breaking through. Soon enough I guess. I'll leave you now with what you actually come to this blog for: pictures. Thanks for reading!

Okay, I'll stop for a quick picture, but I've gotta get back to work.

Walking!

Thought I'd better post about Sofia's latest accomplishment: WALKING! As I mentioned in an earlier post, she had been taking a few tentative steps. And, I won't go so far as to say that she's going to be winning any races just yet, but she will take off independently. She still prefers crawling around most of the time, but she does get a lot of joy and pride from moving from place to place on two legs. It's only a matter of time before this will be her preferred method of transportation. A few pictures and a short video of this newest achievement. Way to go Sofia, we're so proud of you!

July

I really don't know where the last month has gone. Seems like summer just started, and now it's quickly approaching its end. Yuck. I haven't been too diligent about taking pictures and updating our blog, but we've been pretty busy this month, with both good and bad things. Won't dwell on the sad things, but everything has kept us pretty busy. 4th of July, Milnor's 125th Centennial, birthday parties, softball, and just general life. I'm am happy to say that my brother and his family did make it home this month for Milnor's celebration. We all wish they lived a little closer so we could see them more often, though. :) As for our Sofia, well, she's growing up too fast for me. Although still not walking and no teeth to speak of, I can say that she has taken a few independent steps, and I can feel a bump on her lower gums, so a tooth must be ready to make its appearance. Things are moving along slowly, but really in Sofia's own time. And, that's the only time that matters, anyhow. She doesn't really speak actual words, but she is quite the chatterbox. Talking and talking all the time. It's pretty cute. But, anyhow, not really a whole lot to report. We've just been living life here, one day at a time. But, I better get to feeding Sofia her lunch. So, here's some pictures. I'll try to write again, sooner than later. :)
