Christmas at Grandma & Grandpa's

After opening up presents Christmas morning, we got ready and headed to my parents' for Christmas dinner with my side of the family. Dinner was wonderful, and as usual, I ate way too much. Afterward, most everyone decided to take a nap. After the naps, Jessie decided that we should put a puzzle together, while Jeanie thought we should play Rock Band. So, everyone kinda took turns doing both. I think both activities will become Christmas traditions, for sure the puzzle anyway. Then, it was present time. Sofia, as the only grandchild there, was designated as the gift distributor. As a surprise to no one, she had the most. In fact, the pile she had was humongous. She was in heaven. After she opened hers, then everyone else dug in. Lee had Chris' name, and before Chris could open his present, Sofia told him what it was. Not politically correct, but pretty funny. It was a wonderful day spent with family. Christmas comes and goes so fast. It makes me wish Christmas could come more than once a year. My checkbook would disagree though. :) I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas Morning

As Christmas got closer and closer, Sofia became more and more excited and really impatient. Starting at about 2 weeks before Christmas, she would ask every day if she could open her presents. I would tell her no, then explain that if she opened them before Christmas, there would be no presents to open on Christmas Day...well, except the ones from Santa. Then we would talk about how many sleeps there were before Christmas morning. When we finally got down to 1 more sleep, I really didn't think she would be able to sleep since she was so excited. Before going to bed, we made sure to set out some fresh-baked cookies and a glass of milk for Santa (in truth, we almost forgot). Then it was time for bed. It took a while, but she finally fell asleep.

When she woke up in the morning, the first thing on her mind was presents. We made our way to the living room, and sure enough, Santa had been here. Sofia must have been a very good girl, because she had 4 wrapped presents from Santa, and her stocking was full. Before tearing into her gifts, I made her take a couple of pictures by them. I don't think she was too impressed by that, but it really didn't take me long, which is good because usually my camera doesn't cooperate. After Santa's gifts, she opened the ones from me and Lee. Although she didn't get the Stinky the Garbage Truck that she wanted, she was pretty thrilled with everything. Children really do make Christmas so much more special.
